What We

BELIEVE

Our Faith and Theology

We belong to the Reformed Christian tradition, shaped by centuries of reflection and rooted in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the unity of the Trinity — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — we believe in one God who creates, sustains, and redeems all things.

We hold that the Bible — both Old and New Testaments — is God’s Word, inspired by the Holy Spirit and authoritative for faith and life. Through Scripture we learn who God is, what God desires for humanity, and how we are called to respond.

We understand salvation as a gift of grace from God through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by our efforts or works, but freely given out of God’s love. This grace transforms us, draws us into community, and calls us into a life shaped by compassion, justice, and service.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we believe Christians are called to live out their faith in tangible ways — worship, prayer, study, mutual care, and service. The church is more than a building: it is the living Body of Christ, composed of diverse members with unique gifts, united in mission and purpose.

Our Life Together and Church Governance

As part of PCUSA, we affirm a representational form of leadership, where ministers and elected elders — clergy and laypeople — govern together. This reflects our conviction that every member has a role, every voice matters, and the church belongs to all of God’s people.

We affirm a confessional heritage — historic statements of faith and theology that help us interpret Scripture and guide our life together. While rooted in tradition, we believe the church is always reforming, open to the movement of the Spirit and responsive to God’s call in each new generation.

Our Mission and Witness in the World

We believe God calls the church to be a witness of hope, love, and justice in the world. That means caring for those in need, working for peace and reconciliation, standing up for human dignity, and striving for creation-care and environmental stewardship.

We believe the Good News of Jesus Christ is not only to be proclaimed but to be lived. Faith without works is incomplete. So we commit ourselves individually and as a congregation to compassion, service, and a love that embraces all people.

We affirm that LGBTQ+ individuals and families are welcome to participate fully in worship, leadership, marriage, and ministry. Our covenant with God and with one another commits us to justice, dignity, and love — not as an abstract idea, but as a lived practice. LGBTQ+ people are fully included in God’s covenant and in the life of the church, just as they are.

We believe being part of a broader connection — the PCUSA and the global church — links us to a larger community of faith, hope, and love. We stand in solidarity with fellow believers around the world, joining in the shared call to serve God’s mission with humility, justice, and love.
